Have you thought about your list of New Year Resolutions?
My list is growing in my brain. Some are not feasible and others are more difficult but not impossible. I was going through my files in my office. Tossing stuff and keeping receipts and things from 2009. I ran across this list from my mom's bible study class she taught several years ago. The class was called Marriage without Regrets. I didn't attend the whole class. I was in nursing school and so whenever I was available during that class time I would pop in. My mom is a great teacher.
If I have no other New Year resolutions...I want to be an amazing wife in 2010.
Model Woman from Proverbs
1. Husband trusts in her. This is so important. The smallest things can break that trust.
2. She does husband good, no evil...every day.
3. Fulfills responsibility to husband and family...basic needs.
4. Wool and flax with working hands.
5. Work in delight.
6. Takes care of food. Aaron is amazing in the kitchen...but I don't expect it from him.
7. Diligence (keeping us in need of a savior).
8. Invest wisely (making good decisions in everyday purchases).
9. Earnings (buys a vineyard to plant more yield).
10. Keeps on keeping on. Probably the most inspirational...despite my downs I need to keep on.
11. Lamp does not burn out at night. Got to admit I need to work on this. I'm out at eight!
12. Relationship to community.
13. Not afraid of snow. Not sure where this came from...ironic it snowed this morning.
14. Good appearance. Firm believer in wives staying beautiful for their men!
15. Because of her, her husband is respected. Choose your words wisely when chatting with friends about her frustrations in your marriage.
16. Work out of home. Not sure what this means. Will need to get my mom to expand on this.
17. Character is...confident, dignity, strength. Smiles at future. Wise teaching, kindness. Not idle. Husband and children rise up and call her blessed. Give something for your family to rise up about. She fears the Lord.
Whether you are religious or not...these basic concepts are so huge in a marriage. Yes we have weak moments and yes we need a little slack sometimes but we are the pillars of our families. Do something special for your hubby tonight...I don't mean naughty (I know what some of you were thinking). I mean write him a note and tell him how much you appreciate him or a list of the reasons you are in love with him (not just love him, but IN LOVE with him).
