Tuesday is the last day before Albertsons changes their deals for the new week. I had just spent the day scrubbing bathrooms, catching up on laundry and picking toys up behind Chloe as she destroyed each room of the house. I was dreading my shopping trip. Albertsons had deals I couldn't resist. It just didn't make any sense to miss out. Couldn't go in the early evening cause the checkers hit a bewitching hour and the crowds are not manageable during that time. Couldn't go in the late evening because Biggest Loser was on and I knew I would get more and more tired as the night went on. So Aaron stayed home with Chloe and I ventured out with Cooper (he is much easier to take because I can contain him in his car seat).
I was so bummed because I needed the extra double coupons Albertsons had in their add this week and they usually have extra at the door but the racks were empty. I asked the ladies at the customer service counter (who know me as the coupon lady) if they had any extra and they said they have been out since Thursday.
Bummer I really could have used those extra dollars off...so I worked through my list (grocerygame list) and found all the things I needed. I had my calculator with me so I met all the right deals and didn't go over my budget (very tight these days).
So I get up to the counter...Cooper is very upset with me. He was not impressed with how long I was taking in the store and he was strapped in his car seat which made him even more mad. I start organizing my coupons in order to complete two different transactions. And the checkers are never too impressed if you are not on the ball when you are ready for them to ring you up.
The lady in front of me turned towards me. Not really paying attention while I was getting organized. I thought she was going to comment on my adorably upset baby boy. She said, "Here are some more coupons to add to your pile, I won't use them and it looks like you are a coupon girl." Oh my gosh they were the double coupons I needed. I wanted to squeeze the lady and jump for joy. If only she realized that the extra ten dollars she saved me brought me great joy and peace of mind.
So I completed my two transactions. Leaving with four boxes of cereal, four boxes of fruit snacks, granola bars, large Tide jug, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, eggs, yogurt, shampoo, conditioner, large pack of Huggies wipes, hair gel, and instant oatmeal all for thirty dollars.
She was my angel in the checkout.
Okay...you've convinced me... I'm ready to learn how to do the grocery game. Bryan and my shopping trips always look like two completely confused people wondering around. Then we end up spending 100 dollars and leave with nothing to eat!
ReplyDeleteWOOHHOOOOOOOO!!!!! Isn't the Grocery Game the best???? So glad you had an "angel" at the store.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you are blogging. Keep it up girl!
