Valentine Scare
Shortly after our Valentine breakfast Cooper's hands and feet swelled up and he broke out in welts on his hands and feet. From the time I noticed it to the time I called Aaron to come look the welts rapidly spread. He was acting fine. No breathing problems or weird mood changes. His hands were so puffy he couldn't grab any more mini m&m's or hold his sippy cup. Then he started to turn blotchy and blue in some areas.
Freaked out we loaded up and headed to the ER. Arranged for Chloe to hang with my mom. Just was Aaron and I got in the car Aaron realized the welts were gone and the swelling had gone down. Me being the freak I am probably would have still gone the hospital but Aaron said we should just watch him at home since he seemed to be improving.
Got some benadryl in him and throughout the day he improved and eventually regained color and welts were gone. You can see in the picture his red fingers and toes and blotchy spots.
We got him into the allergist two days later. During the two days I was stressing because I didn't know what caused the welts and was afraid if he was exposed again the second reaction would be worse. I was praying it wasn't new onset of food allergies. Chloe's seizures are causing enough anxiety as it is.
Allergist did some tests and confirmed that Cooper was afraid to the antibiotic he had been on the week before. Because I had such good pictures of the actual reaction he was able to rule out food allergies...YAY!! So no more omnicef for Cooper.
